In a survey conducted by Napolitan News Service and shared with Secrets on Thursday, only 30% of registered voters supported the broad pardon of Hunter Biden. In contrast, a significant 62% opposed the pardon, with 41% expressing strong opposition.
This revelation follows Biden’s repeated assertions that he would not pardon his son, who was facing various counts of gun and tax fraud. Despite his previous statements, Biden shifted his stance this week, granting a pardon effective for an 11-year period.
Biden expressed his belief that his son was unjustly targeted by prosecutors, a sentiment that aligns with claims made by President-elect Donald Trump regarding the legal challenges he faced.
The poll results highlight a contrasting perspective among voters regarding the Bidens. Approximately 54% of respondents disagreed with the president’s justification. In contrast, 46% believed that the Justice Department (DOJ) unfairly targeted Trump, while 42% did not share that view.
Pollster Scott Rasmussen shared with Secrets that this poll also indicated that Democrats are reassessing their perspectives on Biden, who is presently facing the lowest approval ratings of any sitting president.
“In this hyper-partisan climate, it’s notable that only 52% of Democrats back the president’s pardon. This is just the early stage of partisan reassessment. I believe the discontent among Democrats towards Biden is poised to intensify. Over time, the party may conclude that their loss in 2024 was mainly due to Biden’s self-serving decision to seek re-election,” Rasmussen commented.
Additionally, he remarked, “It’s compelling to see that more voters perceive Trump as having been unfairly persecuted than those who think the same about Hunter.”
