<p>Authorities have taken into custody the mother and aunt of a 14-year-old boy charged with the murder of a Newark police officer.</p>

<p>Rabiyah Sorey, 43, the mother of the suspect in the fatal shooting of Detective Joseph Azcona on March 7, has been identified by New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin as a principal figure in the Double ii, a gang associated with the Bloods.</p>

<p>Sorey, her twin sister Hadiyah Sorey, and 24 other alleged members or affiliates of the gang were arrested by state officials on March 24<sup>th</sup>, based on documents examined by <em>The New York Post</em>.</p>
<p>Rabiyah faces multiple charges, including felony racketeering, conspiracy, assault, as well as offenses related to drugs and firearms.</p>
<p>Investigators assert that the Double ii gang operated a drug distribution network in the vicinity of North 9<sup>th</sup> Street.</p>
<p>Just days before their apprehension, <em>The New York Post</em> spoke with Hadiyah Sorey on North 9<sup>th</sup> Street about her nephew and the allegations against him, during which she claimed to be earning $4,000 a day from drug sales.</p>

<p>“I have the entire north behind me,” Hadiyah Sorey stated, mentioning Newark’s North Ward. “I do whatever I want.”</p>

<p>Investigators allege that nine individuals served as "creepers" for the Double ii, distributing heroin, cocaine, and fentanyl, and were involved in violent acts under Rabiyah Sorey’s orders, including assaults on individuals who crossed her.</p>
<p>Additional individuals reportedly took on roles as managers or enforcers within the organization.</p>
<p>Detectives managed to link Rabiyah to at least four shootings that occurred between April 2023 and December using wiretaps and surveillance footage.</p>
<p>Officials claimed the gang maintained a drug manufacturing operation within Sorey's home in Elizabeth.</p>
<p>During a raid, law enforcement seized approximately $17,000 in cash, as well as drug paraphernalia such as empty glassine envelopes, tape, rubber bands, and digital scales, according to prosecutors.</p>

<p>“The ongoing illegal drug trafficking severely impacts the lives of New Jersey residents, and gangs like the one described in the charges aim to profit from the distribution of these hazardous substances,” Platkin remarked in a statement.</p>
