Mother’s Day brings Biden’s criticism of Trump on abortion
The Joe Biden presidential campaign used Mother’s Day to highlight the difference in abortion policies between Biden and former President Donald Trump.
In a campaign ad, Biden emphasized that women lost their freedom to make decisions about their own bodies under Trump’s presidency.
“Women’s lives are in danger because of that,” Biden stated in the ad. “If Donald Trump regains power, what other freedoms will you lose? Your body and your choices are yours, not the government’s, not Donald Trump’s. I will fight vigorously to restore your freedom.”
In 2022, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, the constitutional right to abortion, with three justices appointed by Trump supporting the decision.
The Biden-Harris social media account quickly responded by sharing another ad on Mother’s Day, depicting mothers with their children and then showing clips of Trump endorsing family separation at the border, advocating punishment for women who have abortions, and taking credit for overturning Roe v. Wade.
In response to the ad, Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung criticized the Biden campaign for their actions.
“What a sad, miserable, cowardly existence Crooked Joe Biden and his campaign must have to create such a disgusting ad on a day of celebration,” Cheung commented. “Their lives seem to be filled with anger, hatred, and resentment due to their clear case of Trump Derangement Syndrome. President Trump continues to occupy their minds, even on Mother’s Day.”
Trump, on his Truth Social account, wished all the mothers a fantastic day.
“You are truly special people!!!,” Trump wrote.
