In the aftermath of ABC News settling a lawsuit with President-elect Donald Trump due to a defamatory statement made by its leading anchor, Mika Brzezinski of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” quickly sought to clarify a similar false statement made by a guest.
On this Wednesday’s episode, Scott Galloway, a marketing professor at NYU Stern, made a remark labeling Trump as a rapist while discussing economic reasons voters favored Trump over Kamala Harris.

“We find ourselves amidst a series of minor revolutions aiming to address income inequality. The reason we’ve placed an insurrectionist and a rapist into office is that, for the first time in our country’s history, a young man or woman in their 30s isn’t achieving the same success as their parents did at that age,” Galloway stated.
As the segment wrapped up, Brzezinski interjected with an important legal clarification, emphasizing that MSNBC did not endorse the “rapist” accusation made by the guest.
“I’d like to address a term used during this discussion. Donald Trump was found liable for sexual abuse in a civil trial, not rape…” Brzezinski informed her audience.
Following this statement, she swiftly transitioned to a commercial break.
This correction came on the heels of ABC News agreeing to a $15 million settlement last month to resolve a defamation lawsuit related to a similar accusation made by George Stephanopoulos, co-anchor of “This Week.”
In an interview on March 10th, Stephanopoulos was compelled to apologize after asserting multiple times that Trump had been deemed “liable for rape” by a liberal jury in New York while questioning a congressperson about her support for the Republican candidate.
Insiders reported that Stephanopoulos had ignored his producer’s repeated warnings against using the term “rape.”
Also, there has been a stern warning issued to national news outlets regarding perceived bias in their reporting on the incoming president from Trump’s designated chair of the Federal Communications Commission.
“The American public no longer trusts the national news media to report accurately and fairly,” declared FCC Chair Brendan Carr.
Social media users quickly responded to Galloway’s remarks on MSNBC.
