Ras Baraka, the Mayor of Newark and a candidate for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination in New Jersey, came to the defense of the Nation of Islam after a video emerged of him applauding aggressive and racist remarks made by the group’s divisive leader, Louis Farrakhan.
