Naftali Bennett Warns Newsmax: Postponing Rafah Invasion a ‘Significant Error’

Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett stated that Israel’s actions in Rafah should have taken place four months earlier instead of delaying the decision to enter the southern Gaza city. Bennett emphasized that this delay was a “big mistake.” He made these remarks during an interview with Newsmax’s “Wake Up America Weekend.”

Bennett stressed the importance of not succumbing to internal misguided policies and international pressure. He emphasized that Israel needs to act decisively to destroy Hamas without hesitation.

Recent reports indicated that Israeli tanks entered eastern Jabalia in the northern Gaza Strip, targeting Hamas militants who are believed to be concentrated in Rafah. Bennett explained that the focus on Rafah is essential to eliminate the terrorists and prevent Hamas from regrouping.

Benny Gantz, an Israeli Cabinet Minister, has called for early elections in September. While there is growing dissatisfaction with the current leadership, Bennett declined to comment on any potential challenge to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Bennett underscored the urgency of completing the Rafah operation promptly, emphasizing the unity among Israelis in achieving the goals of dismantling Hamas and securing the release of hostages.

In response to concerns about civilian casualties, Bennett argued that adopting a policy of “zero civilian casualties” could embolden terrorist groups to hide behind civilians in future conflicts. He cautioned against setting a precedent that could endanger civilians worldwide.
