Napolitano Admits Putting Defense Witnesses on Stand was a Mistake in Interview with Newsmax

According to former New Jersey Superior Court Judge Andrew Napolitano, the defense team made a mistake in the New York business documents case involving former President Donald Trump by putting a witness on the stand, as reported by Newsmax on Tuesday.

Napolitano explained that not bringing any witnesses would have conveyed a message to the jury that the case was weak, but by putting lawyer Robert Costello on the stand, it raised questions about the defense’s strategy.

Looking ahead to the closing arguments, Napolitano suggested that the defense team highlight Michael Cohen’s history of lying and criminal behavior to discredit his testimony against Trump.

On the government’s side, they will rely on corporate documents to prove their case, but Napolitano emphasized the challenge of presenting a coherent argument to the jury.

Regarding Judge Juan Merchan’s handling of the case, Napolitano criticized the delay in ruling on the defense’s mistrial request.
