Napolitano Urges Newsmax Not to Extend Trump Gag Order
Retired New Jersey Superior Court Judge Andrew Napolitano told Newsmax on Monday that former President Donald Trump should not be silenced from commenting on the daughter of the judge overseeing his hush money case.
Napolitano explained to Newsmax’s “Newsline” that Judge Juan Merchan’s daughter is a major Democratic fundraiser, raising money for Democratic candidates who are targeting Trump in this case.
Regarding Merchan’s initial gag order on Trump, Napolitano noted that it did not include restrictions on the judge or his daughter, which he believes was the right decision. Napolitano expressed his belief that gag orders are generally unconstitutional, especially for public figures like Trump.
After the first gag order, Trump criticized the judge’s daughter, prompting the prosecutor to seek further restrictions on Trump’s comments. Napolitano argued that the daughter is fair game for criticism, as she is attacking Trump through her political activities.
