New York Attorney General Confident and Prepared for Trial Against Trump
The New York attorney general’s office has declared its readiness for trial in a case against former President Donald Trump and his associates. The lawsuit accuses them of manipulating property values to obtain investments and loan benefits in New York. If found guilty, the Trumps could face a $250 million fine and be prohibited from holding officer or director positions in a New York corporation, which would affect their ability to do business in the state. The lawsuit also seeks to prevent the Trump family and their business from acquiring New York real estate and applying for loans from a New York institution for five years. The Trumps have consistently denied any wrongdoing and have accused the attorney general, Letitia James, of pursuing politically motivated objectives. The case has faced multiple attempts by the Trump team to have it dismissed.
