Newsmax: Francey Hakes Calls out Judge Chutkan for Departure from Conventional Court Rules
Former federal prosecutor Francey Hakes has accused U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan of bias in President Donald Trump’s 2020 election case. Hakes claims that Chutkan is not following normal court rules and is not being accommodating to Trump’s defense attorneys. Hakes argues that Chutkan’s actions are not in line with the “collegiality” of the American Bar Association. She believes that Chutkan’s refusal to set a certain period of time to respond to motions and her failure to accommodate busy defense attorneys indicates bias. Hakes suggests that Chutkan should take into consideration the attorneys’ other commitments and schedule hearings accordingly. The judge set a date for a Friday hearing in Washington, D.C., which clashes with other commitments for Trump’s attorneys, including an arraignment in Florida. Hakes sees this as further evidence of bias. Trump’s legal team had initially requested a hearing date for the following week, when both attorneys would be available.
