Newsmax Interviews Idaho Bar Owner on Hetero Month and Faith
The bar owner who declared June as “Hetero Awesomeness Month” at his venue in Eagle, Idaho, explained to Newsmax on Tuesday that his promotion was a reflection of his “belief system” rather than endorsing someone else’s.
Mark Fitzpatrick, the proprietor of the Old State Saloon, appeared on “Rob Schmitt Tonight” to discuss his response to Pride Month and the ensuing feedback.
“It almost feels like we have suddenly become the go-to spot for heterosexuals across the nation,” Fitzpatrick disclosed to Schmitt.
For instance, they have “Hetero Male Monday” where any heterosexual male dressed as such receives a free draft beer. Additionally, heterosexual couples enjoy a 15% discount on their bill on Wednesdays.
Schmitt inquired how Fitzpatrick came up with this promotion.
“As we neared June, I realized that I didn’t want to feel obligated to celebrate something that goes against my beliefs. No one should feel forced to celebrate something they don’t agree with,” Fitzpatrick stated. “I want to make it clear – I have love for all individuals, but just because you love someone doesn’t mean you have to support everything they do.
“So, as approaching that month, I wanted to create a celebration that aligns with honoring God and celebrates the natural attraction between man and woman, designed for procreation and all that comes with it,” he elaborated.
