Newsmax: Morton Kline Urges Further Action Regarding Columbia Leaders
A call from Columbia University’s chapter of the American Association of University Professors for a vote of no confidence in university President Minouche Shafik and other officials for calling in the New York Police Department to clear out an occupied building at the school was deemed “extraordinary” by Morton Klein, the president of the Zionist Organization of America, during an interview on Newsmax Sunday.
Klein expressed discontent with Shafik for her refusal to expel students who violated the law and university policies. He also criticized the board for not taking a firm stand and demanding that Shafik address the issue promptly or face termination.
The AAUP chapter at Columbia University included the co-chairs of the board of trustees and Chief Operating Officer Cas Holloway in their call for a vote of no confidence after the NYPD intervened to clear out protesters from Hamilton Hall and the campus.
According to The Columbia Spectator, the chapter cited procedural violations and the use of emergency powers to make the decision without consulting the University Senate.
Klein also criticized the Biden administration for its handling of Iran and the funding of terrorist organizations like Hamas and Hezbollah. He highlighted the administration’s failure to enforce sanctions, leading to Iran accumulating billions of dollars used to support terrorist activities.
Furthermore, Klein argued that universities permitting anti-Israel protests were violating the Civil Rights Act by not ensuring a safe environment for all students, including Jews. He suggested that law enforcement should have been called in to maintain order during such protests.
Regarding the inflammatory remarks made by protesters, Klein emphasized the need for leaders like Biden and Shafik to address and condemn such rhetoric, comparing it to the actions taken against racist groups in the past.
