Newsmax Reports Scharf and Leavitt’s Opinion: Trump Case Deemed ‘Meritless’

According to Trump attorney Will Scharf, the legal case against former President Trump is essentially a “business records case,” as he explained to Newsmax on Monday.

Scharf stated in an interview with “Rob Schmitt Tonight” that for a conviction, the prosecution would need to prove to a jury that Trump knowingly falsified business records, which he believes they cannot do. Additionally, they would have to demonstrate that these false records were created to conceal another felony offense.

He further clarified that the alleged underlying felony is related to a campaign violation, but the case had been declined by the Federal Elections Commission, the Biden Department of Justice, and the former New York City D.A.

Trump 2024 National Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt joined Scharf to criticize the case as “ridiculous and petty” in the face of more significant issues like inflation and border security. She also questioned the impartiality of the prosecution and the judge, citing conflicts of interest.
