Newsmax: Stephen Miller Claims DOJ Making Efforts to Exclude Trump

Former President Donald Trump’s senior advisor, Stephen Miller, claims that the additional charges brought against Trump in the Mar-a-Lago documents case are evidence of the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) attempts to prevent him from returning to the White House. Miller argues that if Trump had not been running for reelection and had simply retired to one of his properties, no charges would have been brought against him. The DOJ recently filed a superseding indictment accusing Trump of trying to delete surveillance footage from his Florida resort. Miller asserts that Trump’s actions to raise objections to the 2020 election results were legal and a good faith effort to ensure election integrity. He criticizes Jack Smith, the prosecutor leading the case, suggesting that Republicans who raise questions in future elections will be “thrown in jail.” Miller further argues that criminalizing the use of the Electoral Count Act would contradict the explicit instructions outlined by Congress on how to conduct an election contest. He calls this moment a “terrifying, chilling” path from which there is no obvious point of return.
