Nikki Haley Expresses Concern to Newsmax Over ‘Unacceptable’ Conditions at Rice Street Jail
Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, a potential candidate for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination, criticized the conditions at Rice Street Jail in Atlanta, where former President Donald Trump was recently booked. The Department of Justice has opened an investigation into the jail based on allegations of insects and filth, unsafe conditions, violence, and excessive force. Haley called for the inmates to be moved to a safer place, especially if they have not been convicted yet. She also criticized Attorney General Merrick Garland and called for changes within the Department of Justice. Haley responded to rival Vivek Ramaswamy’s attempt to mock her given Indian name, calling it childish and pathetic. Ramaswamy had fired back at Haley over her comments about his view on the U.S-Israel relationship.
