The semiconductor giant disclosed plans to invest in $500 billion in AI servers in the U.S. over the next four years, with operations set to take place in Houston and Dallas, Texas.
Additionally, Nvidia has already commenced production at chip facilities in Phoenix, Arizona, operated by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC).
“NVIDIA is collaborating with its manufacturing partners to create factories that will produce NVIDIA AI supercomputers entirely in the U.S. for the first time,” the company stated in a blog post.
“Production of NVIDIA Blackwell chips has started at TSMC’s facilities in Phoenix, Arizona. NVIDIA is also establishing supercomputer manufacturing sites in Texas, partnering with Foxconn in Houston and Wistron in Dallas. Mass production at both sites is anticipated to ramp up in the next 12-15 months,” the announcement elaborated. “Working alongside leading manufacturing partners, the company has commissioned over a million square feet of space to build and test NVIDIA Blackwell chips in Arizona and AI supercomputers in Texas.”
“Within the next four years, NVIDIA aims to produce as much as half a trillion dollars in AI infrastructure in the United States through partnerships with TSMC, Foxconn, Wistron, Amkor, and SPIL. These top-tier companies are solidifying their alliances with NVIDIA while expanding their operations and strengthening supply chain resilience.”
Nvidia’s founder and CEO, Jensen Huang, commented, “For the first time, the engines of the world’s AI infrastructure are being built in the United States. Increasing American manufacturing enables us to better satisfy the immense and rising demand for AI chips and supercomputers, fortifies our supply chain, and enhances our resilience.”
This announcement follows President Donald Trump’s implementation of a 32% tariff on Taiwan, which is pivotal for Nvidia’s chip production.
In response, the White House remarked that this development exemplifies “the Trump Effect in action.”
“Bringing these industries back to American soil benefits American workers, strengthens the economy, and enhances national security – and we believe the best is yet to come,” the White House added.
