Ohio Sheriff Urges Families Affected by Migrant Crime to Take Legal Action Against Mayorkas, Tells Newsmax

Butler County, Ohio, Sheriff Richard Jones told Newsmax on Friday that his state “became a border state” under President Joe Biden and advised families who have been affected by crimes committed by migrants to consider legal action against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

“I’ve told people they should sue this guy,” Jones said of Mayorkas during an appearance on Newsmax’s “Wake Up America.” “Anybody that has had a family member die from fentanyl or been a victim of murder or rape by an illegal immigrant who crossed the border – our borders are open – they should consider taking legal action against him.

“They should hold him accountable and make him pay for the consequences. They have intentionally allowed this to happen. They are not working in our best interest and in Ohio, we have essentially become a border state.”

Highlighting the kind of crime his county is dealing with, Jones shared the story of Fermin Garcia-Gutierrez, 46, an illegal migrant facing charges of aggravated murder. Garcia-Gutierrez, with multiple aliases, has a history of deportation and 11 prior incarcerations.

“This individual has been in our jail numerous times over the past few years,” Jones explained. “He has been charged with over 20 different offenses in recent years, under various names, including domestic violence, drugs, and guns. He committed murder and the victim’s body was discovered three days after he was in our custody for unrelated charges. The Hamilton City Police Department is handling the investigation and has charged him with aggravated murder. It was a brutal crime and we are awaiting the notification of the victim’s family before releasing any further information.

“Under President Biden and Senator Sherrod Brown, Ohio has essentially become a border state. We have housed around 1,000 prisoners from other countries in our facilities over the past three years. This has cost our county approximately $4 million, which is ultimately borne by the taxpayers. It’s no wonder why Ohio is facing these challenges, as we are essentially border states right now.”

Jones also mentioned the ongoing battle against fentanyl, a substance brought into the country by individuals like Gutierrez.

Regarding Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s expected dismissal of impeachment charges against Mayorkas, Jones expressed his lack of surprise, stating “Listen, none of it surprises me.”

“The current situation is absolutely chaotic and our country is being destroyed,” he added. “It’s completely out of control and we are all suffering as a result. I’m not sure if we can recover from this.”
