Omar and Bush from ‘Squad’ criticized for Memorial Day mistake
Two members of “the Squad” faced criticism on Monday for mistaking Memorial Day for Veterans Day, prompting them to delete and repost accurate sentiments on social media.
Reps. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., and Cori Bush, D-Mo., deleted posts honoring veterans and those who served the country. They later reposted their sentiments correctly in honor of Memorial Day.
In her new post, Omar thanked the men and women who sacrificed their lives for the country, while Bush honored those who served and lost their lives.
Despite their efforts to correct the mistake, Omar and Bush received backlash from the public for the confusion.
Comments on social media criticized the lawmakers for their error and suggested they should not be in office. Some users questioned their understanding and respect for the significance of Memorial Day.
Other members of the Squad, including Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Rashida Tlaib, did not post anything related to Memorial Day or Veterans Day, as reported by Breitbart.
