One-Third of DeSantis Campaign Staff Laid Off
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is cutting back on his presidential campaign staff, with about a third of his team being let go. This comes as DeSantis has been losing ground in the polls to former President Donald Trump and questions arise about the strength of his chances. The campaign has also gone through 40% of the $20 million it raised from April through June, leaving DeSantis with just $9 million remaining. These financial challenges are exacerbated by the fact that many of his donors have already given him the maximum allowed amount, limiting their ability to contribute further. The reduction in staff follows a donor retreat in Park City, Utah, where campaign officials and advisers discussed the race but did not address the upcoming cutbacks. DeSantis’s campaign manager stated that the staff reductions were part of efforts to streamline operations and position DeSantis to win the primary and defeat President Joe Biden. Despite these changes, DeSantis’s campaign manager remains in charge.
