PAC led by Tim Scott plans to allocate $14 million towards minority voter engagement efforts

Senator Tim Scott from South Carolina recently announced a $14 million minority voter outreach campaign on behalf of Republicans through his Great Opportunity PAC in preparation for the 2024 general election, as reported by CBS News.

Scott, the only Black Republican in the Senate and a potential running mate for former President Donald Trump, aims to lead the initiative to gain support from Black and Latino voters nationwide, with a specific focus on Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania.

“There’s no doubt that African American men are open to a political or partisan shift,” Scott stated during a press conference on Tuesday, according to CBS News.

“Many reasons indicate why this shift is becoming increasingly evident and undeniable that something is not right,” Scott emphasized in discussions, as reported by CNN. “It’s not just about race, but it will likely result in a political shift that we haven’t witnessed in about three decades.”

He further noted, “If Black voters either abstain from voting or align with the right, the Democrats will face a significant challenge.”

A spokesperson for President Joe Biden’s campaign, Sarafina Chitika, criticized the plan as a “last-ditch effort” to promote Trump’s “racist agenda.”

Chitika added, “President Biden is actively engaging with Black Americans to earn their support, rather than relying on last-minute appeals. That is true leadership.”
