Pelosi Calls MSNBC Host a Trump Apologist
During an appearance on “Katy Tur Reports”, former Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Ca., accused an MSNBC host of being an “apologist” for former President Donald Trump. The disagreement arose when Pelosi was highlighting President Joe Biden’s job record and criticizing Trump for having the “worst record” on jobs of any president in history. However, Tur pointed out that Biden’s job growth mainly consisted of jobs that were lost during the COVID pandemic under Trump’s presidency.
Despite this fact, Pelosi insisted, “Donald Trump has the worst record of job loss of any president.” She then accused Tur of defending Trump, to which Tur replied, “I don’t think that anybody can accuse me of that.”
This exchange was noteworthy given that MSNBC is often criticized by Republicans for being a mouthpiece for the Democratic Party. Factcheck.org has also pointed out that Biden’s job growth claims, echoed by Pelosi, fail to provide the complete context.
The Biden administration has been adding government jobs, with March marking the fifth consecutive month where federal government hires set a record. This has raised concerns about the accuracy of job growth statistics being touted by the administration.
