Pence and Haley Engage in Heated Debate on Abortion at GOP Forum



Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and former Vice President Mike Pence had a heated exchange on abortion during the Republican presidential primary debate. Haley called for a consensus among lawmakers on abortion and expressed support for banning late-term abortions, encouraging adoptions, and allowing healthcare providers to opt-out of performing abortions. Pence argued that consensus is not leadership and advocated for a federal ban on abortions after a baby is capable of feeling pain, citing support from 70% of Americans. Haley countered that a federal ban would require 60 Senate votes and urged Pence to be honest with the American people.
