Pennsylvania Democrats Urged to Vote Against Joe in Primary
The “Abandon Biden” movement in Pennsylvania urged state Democrats to vote “No Joe” in the primary as a symbolic protest against President Biden’s handling of the conflict in Gaza.
The Pennsylvania chapter of “Abandon Biden” was established in February, despite a small Muslim population. According to EmgageUSA, there are an estimated 167,618 Muslim voters in the state as of 2020. Pennsylvania also has the largest Jewish population in the country, with around 300,000 eligible voters.
“We call on all people of conscience to write-in ‘NO JOE’, or any other message that reflects your beliefs, as a way to express our collective frustration through a powerful democratic action,” said Rabiul Chowdhury, co-chair of “Abandon Biden” in Pennsylvania.
Biden has faced similar challenges in other battleground states. In the Michigan primary, “Uncommitted” received 13% of the vote, with 94% of Muslim voters choosing that option, reflecting Michigan’s significant Muslim population.
In 2020, Biden won Pennsylvania by approximately 80,000 votes over former President Trump, who had defeated Hillary Clinton by less than 45,000 votes in 2016.
