Perry Johnson Successfully Meets RNC Criteria for Debate Participation
Michigan businessman Perry Johnson has qualified to participate in the first GOP presidential primary debate after new polls showed he met the Republican National Committee’s qualifications. Johnson registered at 1% in a new national poll from Victory Insights and netted 1% in Iowa and almost 2% in New Hampshire in Trafalgar Group polls. In addition to meeting polling thresholds, Johnson also met the RNC’s requirement of gathering campaign donations from at least 40,000 individual donations. His campaign has spent $2.9 million on advertising, largely self-funded by Johnson himself. The eight other candidates who have qualified for the debate are Sen. Tim Scott, Gov. Doug Burgum, former President Donald Trump, Gov. Ron DeSantis, former VP Mike Pence, businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, and former Gov. Chris Christie.
