<p>Reports indicate that 173 dogs and monkeys were tragically abandoned by Rep. Shri Thanedar’s former pharmaceutical firm, which declared bankruptcy in 2010.</p>

<p>Thanedar was born in India and was re-elected last fall, having initially won a seat in Congress in 2022. He previously ran unsuccessfully for governor of Michigan in 2018.</p>
<p>This marks his third attempt to impeach Trump, according to the <em>Detroit Free Press</em>.</p>
<p>In 2010, AniClin Preclinical Services, a testing lab in New Jersey, closed after Thanedar's parent company, Azopharma, went bankrupt. In June of that year, animal rights activists found at least 118 beagles left without food or water inside the lab.</p>
<p>Furthermore, a <em>USA Today</em> article noted that employees had to scale the facility's fences to provide care for the abandoned dogs.</p>
<p>On July 4<sup>th</sup>, the beagles were finally removed from the lab and transported to various shelters, where animal welfare groups worked diligently to find them adoptive homes. The dogs arrived in a van and were met by volunteers who groomed, fed, and cared for them, as detailed in a video report by the <em>Times Herald-Record.</em></p>
<p>Additionally, just a few days later, 55 long-tailed macaque monkeys left behind in the AniClin facility were rescued by the California organization, In Defense of Animals.</p>
<p>Despite the evidence, Thanedar has steadfastly denied any responsibility for the animals' abandonment at AniClin Preclinical Services, claiming that once the bank took control, he “lost control” over operations.</p>
<p>He asserted that he alerted the bank about the animals and ongoing research, but they proceeded to “lock him out,” allegedly leaving him in the dark regarding subsequent developments.</p>
