Planned Parenthood Chapters in Texas Face Potential Bankruptcy due to Lawsuit

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has filed a lawsuit seeking over $1 billion in Medicaid payments and fines from Planned Parenthood. The lawsuit alleges that the organization engaged in Medicaid fraud by billing the state for health services while it was involved in a legal battle over accessing Medicaid funds. If successful, the lawsuit could result in the closure of Planned Parenthood’s Texas affiliates. The case is being heard by Judge Matthew J. Kacsmaryk, who previously tried to stop the FDA from approving the abortion pill. Planned Parenthood warns that the case could have devastating consequences for healthcare in Texas.
