Authorities are currently responding to an active shooter situation at Wilmer-Hutchins High School in Dallas, Texas. Multiple reports indicate that the call was placed shortly before 1:10 p.m. local time.

CBS News Texas has reported that one individual is now in custody, though details regarding the shooting of the suspect remain limited.

According to Dallas ISD, all students and staff at the high school are secure. However, the school district has requested that parents avoid the campus and surrounding area as the situation remains “active.”

Witnesses have reported hearing “3 to 6 gunshots” according to BNO News. A 17-year-old male student was shot in the leg, but he is reportedly in stable condition.

CBS News noted that this incident coincidentally occurs one year after a student was shot in a classroom at the same school on April 12th, 2024.
