Poll by Emerson College reveals that Haley supporters prefer Biden to Trump

A recent poll from Emerson College reveals a shift in support among former GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley’s followers. According to The Hill, Haley supporters are leaning more towards voting for President Joe Biden in the upcoming election than for former President Donald Trump.

The poll, released recently, shows that 63% of Haley supporters are now backing Biden after her withdrawal from the GOP primary, while only 27% plan to vote for Trump and 10% are undecided.

In response to Haley’s exit from the race, Biden reached out to her supporters, in stark contrast to Trump’s approach.

“Donald Trump made it clear he doesn’t want Nikki Haley’s supporters. I want to be clear: There is a place for them in my campaign,” stated Biden in a campaign announcement.

Haley, in her suspension speech, stressed that Trump must earn the votes of her supporters and did not give him her endorsement.

The Emerson survey also showed that 52% of Haley supporters had voted for Biden in 2020. Currently, Trump and Biden are tied nationally at 45% support each. However, when undecided voters were pushed to decide, Biden edged ahead with 51% to 49%.

Including third-party candidates like independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Trump had a slight lead over Biden by one point.

Spencer Kimball, the executive director of Emerson College Polling, highlighted the race’s volatility, stating, “This race is well within the poll’s margin of error and could move in either direction.”

The poll also revealed voters’ top priorities, with the economy being the most crucial issue for 29% of respondents, followed by immigration at 20% and threats to democracy at 14%. Biden’s job approval rating stands at 41%, with 48% expressing disapproval.

The survey included 1,350 registered voters nationwide and was conducted on March 5-6 with a margin of error of plus or minus 2.6 percentage points.
