Poll finds strong American support for arming Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan
The results of the annual Reagan National Defense Survey indicate that 59% of Americans support military aid for Ukraine, consistent with the Ronald Reagan Institute’s previous polls on the same topic.
The survey, conducted by Beacon Research and Shaw & Co., also found that 30% oppose aid to Ukraine. You can find more information here.
Rachel Hoff, the policy director at the Ronald Reagan Institute, stated, “There is steady and strong consistent support for Ukraine, despite the media narrative or expectations about the debate on Ukraine aid in the U.S. Congress.” Hoff also mentioned that a majority of Democrats and a plurality of Republicans support continued U.S. military assistance to Ukraine.
In addition, the survey revealed that 56% of respondents support sending military equipment to Taiwan, with 28% opposed. Furthermore, 71% expressed support for military aid for Israel, while 23% opposed it.
The Biden administration’s $106 billion supplemental funding request for military aid to Ukraine, Taiwan, and Israel comes at a time when these survey findings have been released. The largest portion of the funding ($44.4B) is earmarked for Ukraine.
The poll was conducted between Oct. 27 and Nov. 5, surveying 2,506 U.S. adults on national security issues. The findings were published by the Ronald Reagan Institute here in advance of its annual National Defense Forum.
