Possibility of Bipartisan Ticket in 2024 from the ‘No Labels’ Movement
The “No Labels” political movement, which aims to offer a bipartisan presidential ticket in 2024 as an alternative to major-party nominees, has gained ballot access in 10 states, with North Carolina being the latest addition. The State Board of Elections in North Carolina officially recognized the No Labels Party after a successful petition effort. The party is linked to a national No Labels effort supported by centrist political leaders such as former North Carolina GOP Gov. Pat McCrory, U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin, and former Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman. No Labels plans to offer a bipartisan presidential and vice presidential ticket if Democrats and Republicans nominate divisive candidates. The other states where No Labels has gained ballot access are Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Nevada, Oregon, South Dakota, and Utah. This milestone is seen as a victory for voters who want more choices at the ballot box. No Labels has not yet announced a specific ticket and has stated that it will step back if a clear path to victory is not present. However, some Democrats are concerned that this could inadvertently lead to the election of a Republican president, including groups working to derail No Labels’ presidential ambitions.
