Radical Climate Agenda Cited as Fuel for UAW Strike, Says Sen. Rubio

Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., said the current United Auto Workers strike is being fueled by a “radical climate agenda” that seeks to end gas-powered cars.

“Auto strike is driven in large part by a radical climate agenda that seeks the end of gas powered cars even if it means destroying American jobs,” Rubio wrote Tuesday in a post on social media platform X. “Instead of supporting either union bosses or CEOS we need to support American workers who want policies that protect their jobs, value the dignity of their work, reduce their cost of living & increase their pay.”

The strike against Detroit’s Big Three shows no signs of an early breakthrough amid threats that the walkout could soon spread, according to report

In a sign of the potential economic and political of a long strike, President Joe Biden is sending two top administration officials to Detroit this week to meet with both sides, the Associated Press reported.

Biden has sided with the UAW in brief public comments, saying automakers have not fairly shared their record profits with workers.
