Congressional Black Caucus has criticized Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy for comparing Rep. Ayanna Pressley to a “modern-day grand wizard” of the Ku Klux Klan. They called his remark a “dark and calculated attempt to obfuscate the truth about racism in America.” Ramaswamy made the comment while addressing concerns about being painted as a “white supremacist.” The Black Caucus accused him of shamelessly carrying the water of white supremacy for political gain. Ramaswamy also accused Pressley of racism for her previous comments. Pressley called his comments a “verbal assault,” and the Black Caucus urged the Republican Party to condemn Ramaswamy’s rhetoric. Former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson is the only Republican candidate who has spoken out against Ramaswamy’s remarks.
