Ramaswamy’s Merchandise Sales Persist Despite Intense Confrontation with Haley
In response to criticism from GOP presidential hopeful Nikki Haley during the third GOP presidential primary debate in Miami, Vivek Ramaswamy, another GOP presidential candidate, decided to capitalize on the clash by offering merchandise referencing their exchange on his campaign website. The clash occurred when Ramaswamy called out Haley’s daughter for using TikTok, a video-sharing app that has raised data security concerns. Haley responded by dismissing him as “scum,” with the moment making headlines. In reaction to this, Ramaswamy’s campaign began selling T-shirts and beverage coolers featuring the phrase “Rebel Scum,” with the merchandise releasing publicly on the social media platform Twitter. The selling of merchandise was linked to Ramaswamy’s assertion that politicians from both parties were corrupt, and he called on “freedom-loving American patriots” to rise up and challenge political corruption.
During the debate, Ramaswamy defended his TikTok presence by pointing out that Haley’s daughter had also been using the platform for an extended period, which led to an exchange where Haley instructed him to “leave my daughter out of your voice.” Haley later characterized Ramaswamy’s comments as a “petty shot” and mentioned that she had shown restraint during the debate.
