Rasmussen Poll: Majority Predict Trump Will be Convicted
According to the latest Rasmussen poll, 53% of voters believe that former President Donald Trump will be found guilty by the jury as his trial in New York City approaches its conclusion.
Of those polled, 23% say a guilty verdict is very likely, while 31% believe it is not likely that Trump will be convicted, including 11% who think a guilty verdict is not at all likely. Fifteen percent are unsure.
The survey shows that more Democrats (69%) than Republicans (43%) think it is somewhat likely that Trump will be found guilty in the legal expense trial.
Trump is facing trial for allegedly falsifying business records to hide a payment made by his then-attorney, Michael Cohen, to adult film actress Stormy Daniels in an effort to prevent damaging allegations from being used against him in the 2016 presidential election.
Witnesses in the trial have included Stormy Daniels, David Pecker, and Michael Cohen, who were involved in the alleged illegal conduct.
The survey also found that 73% of voters have been closely watching the trial, with 36% saying they have followed the news very closely.
Trump has called the prosecution a politically motivated “witch hunt,” with 52% of voters agreeing with this characterization. However, 42% disagree with the description.
Republicans are more likely to agree with Trump’s view of the trial as a “witch hunt” compared to Democrats and unaffiliated voters.
