Rasmussen Poll: Republican Party Holds 5-Point Lead on Generic House Ballot
Republicans maintain a five-point lead in a generic House ballot according to the latest Rasmussen Reports poll.
Forty-seven percent of likely U.S. voters stated they would vote for a GOP candidate if the elections were today, while 42% would vote for a Democrat.
All 435 House seats are up for election on Nov. 5 as Republicans aim to defend their narrow majority of 217-213.
Last month, House Democrats outpaced Republicans in donations by over $2 million, totaling $12.4 million.
“With only six months left until Election Day, House Democrats are ensuring we have the resources to regain the majority, elect Hakeem Jeffries as speaker, end the chaos, and get the government working for families again,” stated Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairwoman Suzan DelBene, D-Wash.
The survey, conducted on May 15-16 and 19 among 1,092 likely U.S. voters, also revealed:
- 53% believe Donald Trump will be found guilty in his legal expenses trial, compared to 31% who think the former president will not be convicted.
- 52% would vote for a candidate who supports deporting all illegal immigrants over granting them amnesty, while 36% prefer a candidate who favors amnesty.
- 32% believe the country is moving in the right direction, and 54% think a randomly selected group of people from the phone book would do a better job than the current Congress in addressing the nation’s issues.
The survey has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
