Renewed Chinese Military Activity Detected in Taiwan’s ‘Response’ Zone, Involving Aircraft
Taiwan reported that there has been renewed Chinese military activity around the island, with 13 aircraft and five ships entering their “response” zone. China has complained about increased military pressure from Beijing over the past three years. In response to Vice President William Lai’s stop-overs in the United States, China held drills around Taiwan. The Taiwanese defense ministry detected 22 Chinese aircraft, including fighters, bombers, early warning aircraft, and drones. Taiwan sent aircraft and ships to monitor the situation. China has not announced further drills around Taiwan since Saturday.
