Rep. Barr States That Ceasefire Would Have Hindered Israeli Hostage Rescue
Rep. Andy Barr insisted on Saturday that the rescue of four Israeli hostages in Gaza would not have occurred if a ceasefire had been in place, as demanded by “extreme far-left antisemitic voices.”
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Barr stated, “This good news would have never happened with a cease-fire. Thank God Israel’s leaders have ignored the extreme far-left antisemitic voices on America’s college campuses, at the United Nations, and even in Congress calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.”
He emphasized the need for Israel’s push to continue until every hostage is rescued or recovered.
The Israeli military successfully rescued four hostages from two separate locations in Nuseirat on Saturday morning. One of the hostages, Noa Agamani, 25, was abducted from the Nova music festival in southern Israel and was last seen being carried away on a motorcycle while shouting, “Don’t kill me.”
The other three hostages, Almog Meir Jan, 21; Andrey Kozlov, 27; and Shlomi Ziv, 40, were found in a different location. All four hostages were taken from the music festival.
Tragically, a member of the Israeli military died from wounds sustained during the operation. However, according to reports, all four hostages are in good medical condition.
President Joe Biden had proposed an agreement to end the fighting in Gaza, calling for a ceasefire, the release of hostages, and the reconstruction of Gaza. Russia and China have expressed concerns about the plan and have requested amendments at the United Nations.
