Rep. Biggs Supports GOP Efforts to Prevent Democrats’ Agenda, Tells Newsmax

Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., expressed his support for a group of Republican congressmen who are protesting against Donald Trump’s conviction in his New York criminal trial by refusing to cooperate with Democrat legislative priorities or nominations by President Joe Biden, in an interview with Newsmax on Monday.

Biggs, speaking on “National Report”, stated that he believes it is the right decision to try and impede the Democratic agenda in response to Trump’s conviction. He commended the efforts led by Utah Sen. Mike Lee and called for all Republicans in the Senate and House to unite against an “out of control executive and judiciary branch.”

He emphasized the power of legislators to control finances as a means of checking the other branches of government, as granted by the Founding Fathers.

Biggs criticized the discussion of Trump potentially going to jail as “surreal” and “outrageous” driven by the Democrats’ intense dislike for him. He also raised logistical questions about the fate of Trump’s Secret Service detail if he were to be incarcerated.

While not ruling out the possibility of Trump being sentenced to jail time, Biggs criticized the judge’s handling of the trial and questioned the clarity of the charges against Trump in his Arizona district.

He emphasized the appealability of the case, highlighting the confusion surrounding the alleged crimes and their impact on the jury and defense team.
