Rep. Comer: House Oversight Panel Dismisses Hunter’s Claims

The House Oversight and Accountability Committee is moving forward with a public hearing focused on President Joe Biden’s alleged influence peddling, according to Chairman James Comer, R-Ky.

Comer responded to Hunter Biden’s attorney, Abbe Lowell, who stated that his client will not attend a public hearing despite previously demanding the opportunity for it.

“The House Oversight Committee has called Hunter Biden’s bluff,” said Comer in a statement. “Hunter Biden claimed he wanted a public hearing, but now that one has been offered along with his business associates he worked closely with, he is refusing to appear.”

Last week, Comer invited Hunter Biden and his business associates to testify at a hearing on March 20 regarding Joe Biden’s involvement in his family’s business affairs, both domestically and internationally.

Hunter Biden was deposed in February for almost seven hours before the committee. In his testimony, he confirmed that his father, as vice president, met with his business associates from Kazakhstan, Russia, and Ukraine at a restaurant in Washington, D.C.

Comer stated, “Hunter Biden’s testimony revealed crucial evidence, including instances where President Joe Biden misled the public about his family’s business dealings and interacted with his foreign business associates who provided millions to the Bidens. However, parts of his testimony conflicted with what Devon Archer, Jason Galanis, and Tony Bobulinski stated.”

Comer reiterated that the scheduled public hearing will proceed as planned, and he anticipates Hunter Biden’s participation.

“The American public deserves honesty and accountability regarding the Biden family’s corruption,” added Comer.

House Republicans contend that Joe Biden and his family benefited improperly from policy decisions made while Biden served as vice president in the Obama administration from 2009-2017.
