Rep. Comer Issues Subpoena for Credit Card Records Given to Bidens by CEFC

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer announced on Thursday that he has subpoenaed records from the credit cards that were allegedly given by the Chinese government-linked CEFC China Energy to members of President Joe Biden’s family and their business associates for personal expenses.

“Through the interviews and depositions we’ve conducted thus far, we’ve learned that there were several credit cards that were used by members of the Biden family — we believe for personal expenses — and we believe that these credit cards were being paid by CEFC or through CEFC-funded affiliates,” the Kentucky Republican said in an interview with Fox News.

The subpoenas are part of the committee’s inquiry into Biden’s activity while he was vice president, according to an Oversight Committee staffer, as reported by The New York Post.

Last month, former Biden family associate Rob Walker testified that Biden personally met with CEFC chairman Ye Jianming in Washington in March 2017, less than two months after finishing his vice presidency.

Biden’s son, Hunter, and brother James reportedly received over $7 million in 2017 and 2018 from the company, with the first $1 million of that coming after the Biden-Ye meeting, Walker said.

Comer’s subpoenas also include the Biden family’s associates.

“The American people deserve transparency, and these subpoenas will be more evidence of the Biden family’s influence peddling around the globe,” the committee aide told The Post.

The subpoenas cover the financial records for Hunter Biden, James Biden, and Sara Biden; associates Eric Schwerin, Gongwen Dong, and Mervyn Yan, and several Biden-affiliated companies, including Rosemont Seneca Partners, Rosemont Seneca Advisors, Rosemont Seneca Bohai, Owasco, P.C., and Hudson West III, the staffer noted.

Former Biden family associate Tony Bobulinski told committee members Tuesday that he and the president talked about the dealings with CEFC twice in May 2017. Biden was also named in an October 2017 email about the CEFC’s attempts to buy natural gas from the United States.
