Rep. Comer Tells Newsmax: Biden’s Tapes No Different from Nixon’s
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer stated on Newsmax that there is no difference between President Joe Biden blocking audio tapes of his interview with special counsel Robert Hur and former President Richard Nixon attempting to hide his audio tapes during the Watergate investigation.
Comer, a Kentucky Republican, also mentioned that Biden has exhausted his executive privilege by allowing transcripts from the interview to be released.
Regarding the refusal to release the audio tapes, Comer emphasized that executive privilege would not hold up in court and that the committee, along with major mainstream media networks, is interested in obtaining the tapes.
When discussing the ongoing investigation into Biden, Comer noted that there has been a race against time to uncover potential corruption within the administration.
The chairman also addressed the recent altercation between Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Jasmine Crockett, stating that he has been working to ensure credible hearings despite occasional outbursts.
