Rep. D’Esposito admonishes Biden for ignoring urgent border issues during interview with Newsmax
Rep. Anthony D’Esposito, R-N.Y., told Newsmax on Wednesday a potential terror attack at the U.S. border with Canada in upstate New York will not serve as a wake-up call for the Biden administration regarding the vulnerabilities of America’s borders.
The FBI is currently investigating a vehicle explosion that occurred Wednesday at a U.S. border checkpoint on the Rainbow Bridge, connecting Niagara Falls, New York, with Canada. The explosion resulted in the death of two individuals. While the cause of the explosion is unknown, terrorism has not been ruled out.
“I do not believe this is the wake-up call that the administration needs, and that is concerning,” D’Esposito, a member of the House Homeland Security Committee, told “American Agenda.“
“Since Joe Biden took office, we have seen an increase in illegal crossings at the southern U.S. border. House Republicans have attempted to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, but the committee on which D’Esposito serves is building a case.”
Furthermore, Rep. Claudia Tenney, R-N.Y., whose congressional district is adjacent to the district where Wednesday’s incident occurred, has also expressed concerns about the vulnerability of the northern U.S. border to potential threats.
“The wake-up calls are happening every single day, and they’re completely being ignored,” D’Esposito said. “That’s one of the reasons as to why the Homeland Security Committee has been going through the steps in order to make sure that we have the facts necessary to impeach Secretary Mayorkas.”
