Rep. D’Esposito expresses lack of surprise at Biden’s plummeting ratings in interview with Newsmax

It’s “not surprising” that a new poll shows that President Joe Biden has hit an approval rating low of 37%, considering that people cannot say that they are better off now than they were when he took office three years ago, Rep. Anthony D’Esposito said on Newsmax Sunday.

“Everything costs more,” the New York Republican said on Newsmax’s “Sunday Report.” “The world is less safe. We’ve seen historic failures at our southern border. ‘Bidenomics’ is a complete failure and obviously because of that, the president’s approval ratings are in the dumpster, and they’re even in the dumpster in places where he historically has run very well.”

The congressman added that he comes from a district where Biden won by 16 points, but now, the president’s ratings are underwater there as well.

“People are not enthused by his campaign,” said D’Esposito. “People do not want to come out and support him because they feel that he is failing the American people. You can listen to the partisans all you want, trying to spin it that we are in a better place, that the world is safer that the border is secure.”

The congressman also on Sunday discussed the U.S. weekend airstrikes on Iranian proxies in Iraq and Syria, saying that he does feel like the move is a step in the right direction, but he wishes it happened sooner

“I think that we need to start showing this world that we are a superpower, that we are the strength of all the world and this is a step in the right direction,” he said. “I feel that we are being taken advantage of because of very often we’re seen as weak across the global stage.”

D’Esposito also on Sunday discussed the push to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and said he does not agree with Rep. Ken Buck, R-Colo., who said last week he does not agree with impeaching him, as he has not committed the high crimes or misdemeanors that are a requirement.

D’Esposito said the move is warranted because of the secretary’s “systemic refusal to comply with the law.”
