Rep. Diaz-Balart calls migrants’ lawsuits against charter companies’absurd’ in interview with Newsmax

Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart, R-Fla., expressed his disbelief to Newsmax on Tuesday regarding a federal judge’s decision allowing migrants to sue the charter companies that transported them to Martha’s Vineyard, calling it “the definition of insanity, of absurd.”

“When [Florida] Gov. [Ron] DeSantis sent those individuals, he sent them to a sanctuary community that openly welcomed those who are in the country illegally and offered them various benefits and care,” Diaz-Balart stated during an interview on Newsmax’s “Carl Higbie FRONTLINE.” “So, they shouldn’t be surprised because they got what they asked for, just like New York City. But be careful what you wish for, right?”

“Socialism and left-wing policies may sound appealing in theory, but in reality, they are disastrous, dangerous, unsustainable, and now reaching the point of absurdity,” he added.

A Massachusetts District Court Judge, Allison Burroughs, ruled on Tuesday that migrants flown to Martha’s Vineyard by Gov. Ron DeSantis two years ago have the right to sue the charter flight company.

The judge dismissed three charges against Florida-based Vertol Systems Co., but allowed them to face the remaining eight.

After being promised better housing, work, and education opportunities, the migrants were flown from San Antonio to the exclusive Massachusetts enclave as part of a campaign by Republican governors to showcase the impacts of the Biden administration’s lenient immigration policies on sanctuary cities.

Diaz-Balart eagerly anticipates the potential return of former President Donald Trump to the Oval Office, stating that “every day with Biden in the White House is a disaster.”

“We are facing a ticking time bomb due to this administration, particularly at the southern border, but not limited to that,” he said. “The world is in chaos, and I can’t wait for Trump to return to the White House. I’m counting the minutes until he can lead and save not just the country, but the world.”
