Rep. Donalds refutes allegations that he is serving as a Trump ‘Prop’
Representative Byron Donalds criticized a television host who accused former President Donald Trump of using him as a “prop” during a campaign event in the Bronx last week. Donalds described the comments as “nothing more than crabs in a barrel.”
“You could argue that MSNBC is using her,” said the Florida Republican in reference to MSNBC’s Joy Reid, who suggested that Donalds is being used to show that Black people support Trump. Donalds countered by saying, “I have different views and suddenly I’m being used?”
Regarding the rally in the Bronx, Donalds praised the diverse crowd in attendance, including Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, Black, and white people, all supporting President Trump.
He also highlighted the support for Trump in blue areas and emphasized Trump’s focus on all Americans, not just certain racial groups.
Donalds commended Trump’s immigration policies and expressed support for reinstating secure national border policies.
While acknowledging his initial skepticism of Trump, Donalds changed his opinion after observing Trump’s 2016 campaign. He praised Trump for defeating Hillary Clinton and for his leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic.
