Rep. Donalds tells Newsmax that Austin’s resignation is the ‘right decision’
Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., told Newsmax Thursday that “the right move” for Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin is to resign amid the controversy over his recent hospitalization.
Donalds said on “Newsline” that he believes more Democrats will begin calling for Austin’s resignation and added, “This is the right move.”
“The same thing happened with [Secretary of Transportation] Pete Buttigieg. He disappeared for two months. Nobody even knew he was gone.
“Now it’s Lloyd Austin … And on a personal level, I hope his health is OK,” Donalds continued. “But as secretary of defense, you don’t get to disappear … That is unconscionable.”
The congressman addd, “But again, this falls at the feet of the Biden administration. This is now the second Cabinet secretary who’s been lost, gone when he’s supposed to be on the job. We already know Joe Biden isn’t there every single day; he’s taking naps or in Rehoboth Beach or wherever he is. He’s not doing his job every day, and it is apparent Lloyd Austin is not. We have serious problems with this administration.”
Donalds also remarked on Hunter Biden’s Wednesday appearance during a House committee hearing, saying that he’s “a shakedown artist” and that this was an attempt at a distraction.
