Rep. Gonzales Criticizes Mayorkas for Lack of Solutions in Interview with Newsmax
Rep. Tony Gonzales, R-Texas, told Newsmax on Tuesday that bureaucrats like Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas lack solutions and are driven purely by politics.
Mayorkas appeared before lawmakers on Capitol Hill on Tuesday to request funding for President Biden’s fiscal year 2025 budget for the Department of Homeland Security. Meanwhile, Gonzales discussed the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, also known as TDA, on “The Record With Greta Van Susteren”.
Gonzales criticized Mayorkas for evading the issue of dangerous consequences stemming from the administration’s border policies.
“Clearly, he was just skirting around the issue, focused on politics instead of solutions. Americans are suffering due to these Venezuelan gangs, and that’s a reality,” Gonzales told Van Susteren.
Gonzales noted that Mayorkas acknowledged the presence of TDA in the country through open borders, but expressed disappointment in the lack of concrete steps to address the issue.
Regarding Mayorkas’ response, Gonzales said, “I need him to be very confident that Homeland Security Investigations is doing everything to prevent these TDA bad actors from harming Americans. I didn’t get that during this hearing.”
