Rep. Greg Murphy Urges AOC to Remove ‘Blinders,’ Tells Newsmax

Rep. Greg Murphy, R-N.C., called on Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., to “remove [her] blinders” when it comes to the anti-Israel student demonstrations at Columbia and Yale, emphasizing that “these are not peaceful protests.”

Ocasio-Cortez recently characterized the protests as “peaceful,” despite reports of harassment and threats of violence against Jewish students.

“They labeled the riots during the summer of 2020 as ‘peaceful’ when there were buildings burning and casualties,” Murphy stated on Tuesday on Newsmax’s “Wake Up America”. “AOC seems disconnected from reality, whether it’s economics or social issues. This seems to be her idea of a good time, witnessing protests and destructive behavior on campuses.

“This extremism is a result of the liberal indoctrination and moral relativism that takes place on college campuses. The progressive liberalism of universities has led us to this point where they are advocating for the genocide of the Jewish people. It’s truly horrific.”

When asked about Democrat colleagues downplaying the seriousness of the antisemitic protests, Murphy suggested that it is for political reasons due to President Biden’s delicate position between pro-Israel and pro-Palestine factions. He emphasized the need to take a stand and condemned the violent acts against the Jewish community.

Murphy called on college presidents and faculty to intervene and put an end to the chaos on their campuses. The demonstrations at Columbia resulted in the suspension of in-person classes before Passover due to safety concerns.
