Rep. Jamaal Bowman Labels Pro-Israel Group as Racist Squad
According to a report by the New York Post, Rep. Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y., used the race card to defend himself against accusations of antisemitism earlier this week.
During a virtual town hall on Monday, Bowman accused AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee) of coming after him with hate, bullying, intimidation, and fear, stating, “You should see what they’re doing in my district.”
Bowman, who represents the 16th Congressional District of New York, is currently in a Democratic primary battle against Westchester County Executive George Latimer.
Bowman has faced criticism for his anti-Israel stance and unusual behavior, including pleading guilty to pulling a fire alarm in the Cannon House Office Building last year in an attempt to delay a vote to avert a partial government shutdown.
Denying AIPAC’s accusations, Bowman claimed they were lying about his record and criticized their dislike for his radical style as a member of the “Squad.”
Earlier, Bowman accused Israel of “genocide” in the Gaza Strip and dismissed reports of atrocities against Israeli women and children as “propaganda.”
In response, AIPAC spokesman Marshall Wittmann stated, “Rep. Bowman’s scurrilous and shameful attacks won’t hide his record of aligning with an extremist, anti-Israel fringe.”
