Representative Anna Paulina Luna, a Republican from Florida, has announced a new series of bills that could potentially impose the death penalty on child sexual predators.

On Tuesday, Luna (R-Fla.) introduced these bills, which are set to be presented in the 119th Congress.
“When someone is raping or molesting another person, they are effectively committing a form of murder against their soul. Those affected rarely achieve full recovery. I have participated in committees with a notable female member of Congress who shared her experiences of childhood molestation. It’s clear that such trauma has lasting effects,” Luna shared during a discussion with Fox News Digital.
Two of the three bills proposed would require that individuals convicted of various sex crimes against children face death sentences or, at the very least, life imprisonment.
The third bill aims to mandate a minimum sentence of 30 years to life imprisonment for those found guilty of rape and/or sexual abuse of adults.
In her remarks, Luna expressed her belief that President-elect Donald Trump would be in favor of the proposed legislation.
“I gathered that he [Trump] is fully in support of initiatives in this realm,” Luna commented.
The Florida Congresswoman is a member of the House Freedom Caucus, which advocates for transparency, accountability, and limited government, as well as the Constitution and rule of law, and policies that enhance the freedom, safety, and prosperity of all Americans. The caucus recently held a meeting with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago estate over the weekend.
Luna also mentioned that discussions had taken place regarding the possibility of the president-elect issuing an executive order to implement the death penalty for pedophilia-related offenses, although she acknowledged that legislative passage might be challenging later on.
“He would be open to signing an [executive order]. However, it must first pass through Congress, so it would have to come to his desk through that process,” she clarified.
Luna had previously introduced similar bills during the last Congress, when Democrats held significant power in both chambers and the presidency. However, those bills did not gain traction or proceed to a vote in the full House.
